Gearing Up for a New Year of Auctions

AP_Auction_News.jpg

During the Christmas season, I hope you are taking part in some of the opportunities to enjoy this festive time. Near my home in Springfield, Illinois, there is an event called Festival of Trees where one of the local hospitals has groups, individuals, and schools decorate trees, wreaths, and even gingerbread houses that are sold. Money from the entry fees and the sales go towards charity.

While it is a worthy cause, it also is a transformation from a nice utilitarian building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds into a winter wonderland. My husband and I went with my brother and sister-in-law. We had a great time admiring the trees and decorations, watching the train fill up with holiday visitors, and seeing the looks on children’s faces when they visited with Santa.

Speaking of Santa, have you selected the perfect gift for the collector in your family or dropped tons of hints about just what would fit nicely under the tree for you?
